Q1 Who can access the Space Voyage Parent Portal?
A1 Any person who registers a student for camp or an online class can create their own Parent Portal secure area. Once created you can access your portal as much as you want. If you are a grand-parent and you registered and paid for a grand-child, simply share your Space Voyage Parent Portal Email and password for another family member to login. Each Parent Portal user account is seperate and unique.
Q2 How does this Parent Portal Work?
A2 Once registered, you will be prompted to create a Parent Portal account. It will use the same Email you used to register. Our web server will create an account for you that will allow us to share files and information with you in a private and secure way. Some forms and files are shared with only one parent, while others like waivers and forms can be shared with more than one account or with all. Likewise, parents can upload files and information to Space Voyage. For example: Gen Liability Waiver, Covid-19 Waiver, Medical Release Form and whatever they want. When you scan completed forms, please name them with the participating childs name.
Q3 Why are you adding the Parent Portal Tool?
A4 Dr. Palmere, the program Founder and Camp Director is a technologist and innovator. He has invested in the development of Box Office, our online registration, payment and parent portal. He believes there is a huge value proposition in allowing easy sharing of information, both ways --- from us to you and from you to us. By investing in our own online system Doc says he has accomplished three things: 1 - streamlining the registration process, 2- automating class rosters and making check-in on day one of camp easier for all, 3-allowing student work and photos to be shared with individual families. Additionally, creating and customizing Box Office has allowed Dr. Palmere to check-off another item of his "bucket list", creating a highly functional software tool.
Q4 Can anyone access my parent Portal.
A4 No. Only those with your credentials (email and password) can access your area.If you keep your password secure, it's quite safe.
Q5 What if I loose my password?
A5 No worries. Click on RECOVER PASSWORD. Enter the Email and zipcode used when you registered.A system generated temporary password will be sent to your Email address. Locate that code in your email, then login using your Email and that temporary password. Upon login, edit your password. Enter the temporary password and the new one twice. The Parent Portal system is quite quick in sending out a new temporary password.
Q6 Where is all this information stored? Why did you create your own registration software?
A6 SpaceVoyage.com and all our data are stored on the servers of PartnerWebHosting.com (PWH). PWH LLC is a hosting company that is solely owned by Dr. Palmere, the Founder of Space Voyage. PWH has data origin centers in London, UK and Dallas TX USA. The Space Voyage website is stored on 25 CDN nodes, (in the cache of servers that are part of a Content Delivery Network) around the world. This allows for faster load times, extreme reliability and security. Should one server go down or become busy, the data is simply sent from one of the other nodes or servers.
Q6 What if my Space Voyage kids want to learn to become webmasters?
A7 Space Voyage students wanting to learn to become web artists, web designers and web developers can learn from Dr. Palmere and his team. Like Space Voyage, this program (Project Voyager Web Team), is competency based and self paced. We use world class tools in creating and designing web sites. Our software includes: html5, bootstrap 4 and bootstrap 5, CSS 3, PHP script, javascript technology, and the graphic arts. It all sounds complicated, but it's actually quite easy to learn, if you have good attention to detail and an Edisonian Empiricist attitude.
Q8 When are you doing Zoom Meetups or Zoom Conferences to share information about the Space Camp,
and answer my questions?
A8 We are scheduling Zoom Video Conferences through the Box Office Registration area. If you'd like a online Zoom conferencer, drop Doc Palmere an email and let's get one planned. Doc says he can send you a Zoom link with almost no lead time. Did you know Doc has done more than 2,100 Zoom sessions since March 13, 2020? He says he has more than 500 Zoom backgrounds, and has a retractable green-screen that wraps 180 degrees, around hiw work area.
