ABOUT STEAM CLUB

STEAM Club was developed by Dr. Palmere (Doc), the founder of Space Voyage. Research and development of the STEAM CLUB concept has taken place over the past ten years. STEAM CLUB is the natural extension of the summer Maker Lab Camps designed by Doc Palmere. During the summer of 2023, Doc organized the pilot of two Maker Lab summer camps. These were grounded in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and based on the concepts of being a "Maker." In these STEAM Maker Camps, students learned maker skills and built seven-foot Saturn V rockets. The camps were a great success, with every participating student learning Maker skills and embracing positive Maker attitudes. Each student was able to take home the seven-foot Saturn V rocket they built. A photo from one of the Maker Lab Camps is displayed to the left of this page. Participating students were the inspiration for our first STEAM Club at Ute Meadows Elementary. As we refine our activities, we intend to offer this after-school club to other schools in Jeffco, Colorado, and across the USA
